SERENDIPITY: A TEENAGE ANTIDOTE

The magazine is about capturing the essence of teenage angst through metaphorical visuals.

Each page reveals a new point, with photography that speaks to the glorification of difficulties centered around teenagers.

Prior to each photograph, glitter was incorporated into the work, as it played a crucial role in expressing the intended message.

Glitter is a subtly effective way to convey the romanticization of teenage issues associated with fantasy, enchantment, and beauty. It creates a dreamlike ambiance that conceals the harsh realities of adolescence, reinforcing the notion that adolescent issues are glamorous and exciting.

We chose to donate 100% of the earnings ($1,500) of this magazine to the Massachusetts organization, Horizons for Homeless Children. We made this decision after discussing the purpose and content of our magazine. The people we interviewed for our project had a home and formal schooling, but not everyone has the opportunity to seek professional help. This is our chance to let those children know that they have support in the areas of education and health.
